The repinique, also known as repique, is a cylindrical percussion instrument recognized for its sharp and cutting tone. Its shell can be made from wood or metal and it uses plastic or natural drumheads. Originating in Brazilian music, it plays a central role in samba ensembles, where it leads breaks, rhythmic calls and variations that guide the rest of the percussion section. Depending on the style, it is played with one or two sticks. Its bright sound and rhythmic authority make it a fundamental instrument in samba bands, carnival parades and percussion ensembles.
The 12-inch wooden repique combines traditional craftsmanship with powerful percussion performance. The wooden shell produces a warm and balanced tone with controlled overtones, making it ideal for percussion ensembles that require clarity and musicality.
Equipped with 16 fixed tension rods, this instrument allows even drumhead tension and precise tuning. This configuration provides excellent stability and a wide tuning range, allowing musicians to adjust the instrument according to their playing style and musical context.
Thanks to its solid construction and high-quality hardware, this repique delivers strong projection and reliability for rehearsals, stage performances, parades and street percussion settings.
